The map for the day

Three levels of Claude.

The same tool, doing very different things depending on what you ask of it. We will move through all three.

Claude on the web
1 Web

Renting a desk

claude.ai in the browser. Where almost everyone starts, and where most of the value is still left on the table.

Claude co-working on your files
2 Co-Work

Into your office

Claude working directly on your own files and projects, side by side with you, no copy and paste.

Claude as your technical partner
3 Code

A technical partner

The most capable level, for building real tools and systems. Powerful, and worth knowing exists.

The day, hour by hour

One day, two halves.

All times Pacific. The morning builds the foundation. The afternoon is for people already building. Pick the part that fits where you are, or stay for both.

Afternoon, makers

Build it together, out loud

This half is for the people who want to build in public: bring a real project, a work in progress, or a practical question. We work through it live with someone who builds with AI every day, looking at how to approach what you want to make, where the obstacles are, and what other tools or infrastructure you might need to get there. Send your project and questions ahead when you register and we will have them ready.

Before the day

Two voice notes, about 20 to 30 minutes total.

This is what turns the session from a class into a head start. Record both, download the transcripts, and bring them.

1

A voice note about you

15 to 20 minutes

Imagine you are about to hire a personal assistant, and you are handing them everything relevant for them to truly help you across every area of your life. That is the voice note.

Share as much as you are comfortable with. Cover:

  • Who you are
  • Your work and how you like to work
  • Where you went to school and your background
  • Your references, the people and ideas you look up to
  • Your values and your sense of purpose
  • Your goals, and what is coming up in your job right now
  • Even fears and weaknesses, the honest stuff helps most

The easiest way to do it

  1. Go out for a walk with your phone
  2. Put in your headphones and open your voice memo app
  3. Just talk, let it run 15 to 20 minutes
  4. Extract the transcript and bring it

We will turn this into a personal system prompt that changes how Claude works for you. The longer and deeper this one is, the better the results.

2

A voice note about your assistant

5 to 10 minutes

If you could hire someone to do a part of your job, who would you hire, and why? This shorter voice note describes that person.

Talk through:

  • Their job description, the part of your work they would take on
  • Their attributes, what makes them right for it
  • How they would work with you day to day
  • The exact task you would want them to do first

Ideally it is something your manager is on board with, and something you can actually build during Maker Week.
